PRODUCTION DESIGNER/SET BUILDER

Based on Fiona’s Castle from Shrek, this stage build commissioned by Dynamite Studios Dance Academy, Using reference designs from previous stage adaptions of the film, I was able to put my own unique spin on the design and produce a complex and immersive design for the parameters set by the client.

Coming off the back of the Fright Nights project, I was connected with the clients who required a complex build for an upcoming Dance Showcase. The concept of the performance was a transitional musical performance, meaning throughout the duration of the song, ‘Fiona’ would progress through stages of her life. This meant, 3 different performers would take the stage at different times. The requirements of the build included a hidden ‘backstage’ for the performers and an easy transition through doors on the side of the stage.

With the ability to draft up designs with CAD, I was able to work with the client to produce a design that satisfied all the requirements as well as having the ability for easy assembly to transit and store the set for future performances.
